Armed Citizen® Today

A man defended himself with a firearm when he was approached by two armed men at a car wash in Roseville, Mich., on the evening of Sept. 1, 2020.

The incident began around 7 p.m. Tuesday, when the man was at the Pointe Car Wash cleaning his vehicle. The two robbers then walked up to him, produced a gun and attempted to rob the man. The armed man then drew his pistol and exchanged fire with the two would-be robbers.

One of the robbers, a 16-year-old from Detroit, was shot in the exchange of fire. The other robber fled on foot and is still being searched for by authorities. The 16-year-old robber was taken to a local hospital for his wounds where he was later pronounced dead. The man was released by authorities; the investigation is ongoing. (candgnews

From the Armed Citizen® Archives June, 1974

While a crook posing as a customer engaged a Chattanooga, Tenn., motel clerk in conversation, an accomplice armed with a sawed-off shotgun burst in and announced a holdup. The clerk, 68-year-old Lawrence Denton, yanked a pistol from a desk and fired at the man with the shotgun.

The latter fired once and missed, but two of Denton's shots found their mark. The wounded intruder died. His unarmed partner fled.  (The Chatanooga News-Free, Chattanooga, Tenn.)
