Armed Citizen® Today

A man in South St. Louis County, Mo., Defended himself when two armed men attempted to carjack him in the early morning hours of Aug. 30, 2020.

The man was cleaning his car in the stall of a drive-in car wash when two other men approached him armed with handguns. The armed assailants then robbed the man, taking his cell phone. As the robber that took the cell phone began to go through the car, the man began to fight the other assailant. The man then drew his own handgun and shot the first robber once.

With the shot, the second robber jumped out of the car and exchanged fire with the victim before being struck as well. The wounded second robber then fled on foot before being picked up by an accomplice in a getaway vehicle nearby. The accomplice drove the wounded robber to a local hospital, while the 18-year-old first robber was declared dead at the scene when authorities arrived at 1:17 a.m.

The second robber and accomplice were arrested Monday at an apartment where the man's cell phone was found. They apparently planned to steal a car and targeted the man at the car wash. The two are charged with first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and vehicle hijacking along with second-degree murder for the death of the first robber. (callnewspapers
