HECKLER & KOCH leads with its SP5 pistol—the semi-automatic-only handgun version of the venerable MP5 submachine gun. This is the genuine article, made by the same workers on the same line as the MP5 in Oberndorf, Germany. It has some retro features that make H&K, well, H&K. The 8.86" barrel has the Navy contour with the tri-lug adapter. There’s also a paddle magazine release that drops the excellent double-column, double-feed magazine, available in 10- or 30-round variants. The basic operating system remains classic H&K, meaning that it is roller-locking, and the chamber is fluted. The 9 mm Luger pistol weighs in at 5 lbs., 2 ozs., and it has an overall length of 17.8". Where the buttstock would be, there’s a simple cap that can be swapped out for other accessories. H&K supplies a bungee strap you can throw over your shoulder during your next trip to the range. Oh, yeah, and you can slap that charging handle. I’ll warn you, though, it’s spendy. hk-usa.com
