In Lake Odessa, Mich., a man suspected of substance abuse stole a truck and trailer to take it for a joyride. Stopping the vehicle in a local neighborhood, the suspect forced his way into a nearby house. The homeowner awoke to discover the desperate man stating he was being chased by someone attempting to kill him. Grabbing his gun, the resident followed the intruder outside to face the attacker, but found no one. Both men headed back into the house where the bad guy began to act in an erratic and angry manner, eventually attacking the homeowner. The resident fired his gun and killed his attacker.
