Winchester Smokeless Propellants, a brand licensed by the Hodgdon Powder Company, has announced the Winchester WinClean 244, a new propellant designed for handgun shooters.

This new Ball Powder is ideally suited to .38 Spl., .45 Auto, and 9 mm standard loads. Consistency, clean burning, featuring a low flash and useful across a broad range of applications make this powder a perfect choice for pistol cartridge handloaders. With the addition of the WinClean process, this powder reduces copper fouling and residue, extending accuracy for longer shooting periods.

“As handloaders, it’s a real honor to work with the Winchester brand of ball powders,” said Tim Vaitekunas, vice president of product development at Hodgdon. “But it was a real pleasure to design and build this new propellant. We believe handgun shooters are really going to like loading handgun cartridges with this powder.”

The new Winchester WinClean 244 powder will be available in January 2018 at retailers who sell reloading products. The powder is available in 1-lb., 4-lb. and 8-lb. canisters.
