Bergara has become one of the most well-known and respected barrel makers worldwide, building its Spanish-made, precision barrels for many top U.S. and European rifle manufacturers. Now the company is offering its own bolt-action rifle—the B-14 Timber—to the consumer market. Imported by Bergara USA's parent company, BPI Outdoors, the Performance Series B-14 Timber features Bergara's proprietary premium action, barrel and oil-finished walnut stock.

The rifle's 4140 chromoly steel barrel has undergone a proprietary honing process to guarantee sub-m.o.a. accuracy with factory match-grade ammunition, and is finished in a matte blue. The action also features a coned bolt nose and breech to ease lockup and ensure smooth feeding. A bolt guide is used to eliminate binding. For more on the B-14 Timber rifle, watch this week's "NRA Gun of the Week" video hosted by Christopher Olsen.

Review: Steiner Predator: 4S 4-16X 44 mm

The benefit of a lightweight rifle is lost the moment you top it with a clunky, overweight optic, particularly a lengthy one. To that end, we are starting to see an emphasis on riflescopes that are less cumbersome when mounted, such as Steiner’s Predator 4S.

Already a fan of Ruger’s long-discontinued double-action Security-Six, Police Service-Six and Speed-Six revolvers, I simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to acquire one of the latter in 9 mm Luger when an unfired, 42-year-old example turned up at a gun show.
