With the weather warming up across the country, many people are gearing up for a variety of popular outdoor activities. Many of these activities require, or are made more comfortable, with a small pack carrying necessities.

The BLACKHAWK Diversion Carry Slingpack provides a light and easy way to carry a few important items, such as water, keys and snacks, in addition to a handgun in a secure holster. The pack comes with a single sling that can be adjusted to go over either shoulder, allowing it to be carried on the back, but it is easy to slide the pack around for quick access into the gun compartment.

The bag is made of 420 denier velocity nylon, with lockable zippers and pull tabs. It’s padded for comfort and has a carry loop on top.

I’ve been using this pack for both exercise and short trips, packing ID, permit and keys when out for a run, and water and snacks for the kids on day trips. In both instances, a Smith & Wesson .38 Spl. rides along for security, though larger handguns will fit. I’ve even carried the system for backup when packing my Kimber in its usual holster. When the kids get a little bit older, this pack will be ideal as a replacement for the overly large diaper bag that accompanies us everywhere at the present time. And it looks so much better than a fanny pack.
