Armed Citizen® Today

A heavily tattooed man from Evansville, Ind., is in custody after brandishing an AR-15, causing a local man to open fire with his own defensive arm, according to police.

The 37-year-old felon, who is pictured in booking photos with tattoos across his head, neck and chest, allegedly began an argument with two victims. The man went into his home, retrieved an AR-15, then returned to the scene of the argument. According to police, the sight of the AR-15 prompted one of the victims to open fire, and a shootout ensued, with witnesses stating that "20 shots" had been heard.

Police were called to the scene and, through witnesses, determined that the 37-year-old had been involved in the shooting. When they went to his home, they discovered him with a gunshot wound to his foot. He was treated on scene and transported to an area hospital. Police discovered an AR-15 under his mattress, along with ammunition and a handgun. The suspect faces charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He is currently being held without bond.
