Showcased in Hollywood movies and used often in Cowboy Action competitions, the 92 lever-action is one of several designs that won “the West.” The classic John Browning design has been in near continual production for the past 132 years by various manufacturers. New for 2024, Heritage Manufacturing is adding its name to that list with the company's 92 rifles and 92 Ranch Hand pistols.

The basis of Heritage’s 92 series is Browning’s dual locking bolt, lever-action design that loads from a side gate in the receiver into an under-barrel tubular magazine. In a nod to modern standards, a firing pin block safety lever is added to the top of the bolt. Heritage’s 92s are made of carbon steel or stainless steel with hardwood stocks and are available chambered in .357 Mag., .44 Mag. .45 Colt or .454 Casull. Sights are a brass bead on a front post and an adjustable buckhorn rear.

Heritage’s 92 firearms are available in several configurations. Rifles can be had in what is traditionally known as “carbine” (round barrel with forearm attached by a barrel band) or “rifle” (octagon barrel with forearm attached by a cross screw) form. Carbine configurations have either a 16.5” barrel and large-loop lever or a 20” barrel and standard lever.

Both versions have a black oxide finish and an MSRP of $864. A 18” barrel carbine with large-loop lever, made of stainless steel retails for $925 or $978 with a gold PVD finish on the receiver. In rifle configuration with a 24” barrel, black oxide finish versions have an MSRP of $978 or $1,031 when constructed of stainless steel.
