Editor’s Choice: Winchester Model 1895 Special Adorned

Winchester Repeating Arms is celebrating the 125th anniversary of the John Browning-designed Model 1895 rifle.

The lever-action that President Theodore Roosevelt called “the medicine for Lions” when chambered in .405 Win. will have a specially adorned model this year. The receiver will have a nickel finish with hand-chased scroll engraving, while the stock will be of Grade V/VI walnut with traditional cut checkering.

The 24" high-polish blued barrel chambered in .405 Win. will have a 1:10" twist. Sights will be a buckhorn rear and a Marble gold bead front. Four rounds of the big .405 will fit in the box magazine that give the gun its distinctive look—and the ability to safely use pointed bullets.

If the .405 is a little much for you, it’s also available in .30-40 Krag (hey, TR had one) or in .30-’06 Sprg. For more information, visit
