Combining a 5mW laser (red or green) with a 100-lumen light into a compact, lightweight and durable module was an engineering achievement worthy of the Wilsonville, Ore., manufacturer that has never been a stranger to innovation. That company is, of course, Crimson Trace, and the product is the Rail Master Pro. Introduced back in 2014, the Rail Master Pro is still the standard for universal-mount light/laser sight modules—it’s compatible with the M1913 Piactinny or Weaver-style rails on pistols, rifles and shotguns—and it benefits from its aluminum construction and CR2 battery power source.

American Rifleman’s Joe Kurtenbach selected the product for use in an ongoing study regarding lights on carry guns, and he discusses the Rail Master Pro’s relevant features in this week's NRA Gun Gear of the Week video.
