In a moose-vs.-man battle, the human who was carrying a semi-automatic handgun came out on top. A couple had been taking their dog for a walk along a popular trail that runs near a river. The lush spot also draws a lot of wildlife. Many of the people whose properties back up to the trail own dogs, and several dogs were barking a lot that day. Apparently the noise agitated a moose that was at the river. When the moose saw the man walking his dog, it started charging. The dog broke away and ran down the trail to his owner’s girlfriend. The young man, meanwhile, started backpedaling, but he tripped on some tree roots or branches. As he fell backward, he drew his gun and fired multiple shots, striking the moose in the jugular and elsewhere. The moose died before it could trample the man. A Warren, Mich., robber should have left well enough alone after holding up a local bank. Instead, the 43-year-old suspect decided to threaten one of the bank patrons on his way out of the building—a bank patron who also happened to carrying a legally concealed handgun. The armed citizen drew his firearm and fired repeatedly, striking the culprit in both arms and a leg. The thief then staggered outside and collapsed, where he was taken into custody by the police. (Detroit Free Press, Detroit, MI, 9/22/15)

Review: Rock River Arms A1 Carbine SBR

The Rock River Arms A1 SBR is just plain cool, and there’s little justification needed beyond that for picking up a new gun. It’s a mixture of throwback, retro and nostalgia with a bayonet lug, and you just can’t go wrong there.
