Walther Arms is reminding owners of any PPS M2 shipped before Sept. 21, 2018—that have not responded to the company’s previously announced voluntary safety upgrade—to inspect their handgun to determine if its serial number is included and whether the procedure has already been completed at the factory. Walther will upgrade those affected PPS M2s that need modification and return them as soon as possible, free of charge.

The company voluntarily initiated the upgrade in Nov. 2018 to protect the safety of its customers. Under certain conditions it is possible that some of these pistols may fire when dropped. The only PPS M2 pistols affected are those in the following serial number ranges: AN3020 - AN9999, AO0000 - AO9999, AP0000 - AP9999, AQ0000 - AQ9999, AR0000 - AR9999, AS0000 - AS9999, AT0000 - AT9999 and AU0000 - AU7502.

Do not load or fire if your pistol’s serial number is in the included ranges. A dot milled into the back side of the magazine opening (as shown above) indicates the factory-performed process has been completed.

Owners of affected handguns that have not received the upgrade need to contact Walther Arms immediately by visiting the company’s special web page to initiate the process.  You can also e-mail [email protected], call (866) 503-3389 (Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. central time), or write Walther Arms, 7700 Chad Colley Boulevard, Fort Smith, Ark., 72916. Include the serial number of your PPS M2 pistol, which is located on the right side of the pistol.

After contacting the company and confirm that the pistol is subject to the safety-upgrade notification, a pre-paid overnight shipping label with instructions will be e-mailed or mailed to affected owners. Those who complete the online form can print the paid overnight shipping label with instructions directly from the website.

Anyone who has sold or transferred a PPS M2 pistol should also visit the web page or contact the company using the above-mentioned methods to provide the name and contact information of the new owner. Walther Arms will then notify them of the safety upgrade.
