Armed Citizen® Today

A woman defended herself and a male resident of a Monroe, La., home with her firearm when three armed burglars forced their way into the home on the eventing of Oct. 11, 2020.

The incident began around 10 p.m. that Sunday night when a trio of thugs wearing hoodies and brandishing firearms forced their way into the home. The trio then came across the male resident and demanded money from him at gunpoint. When the burglars demanded the money, the man refused to cooperate and yelled for the woman. One of the thugs then struck him on the head with their handgun several times.

When the yelling woke the woman up, she knew something was wrong and grabbed a gun stored under her mattress. She then went to investigate, finding the male resident struggling with two of the armed burglars. When one of the armed intruders pointed his gun at her, she fired several shots and heard one of them say "Aw, she shot me." The three burglars then fled the home through the front doorway and jumped into a silver Nissan Altima parked outside the home.

At 10:25 p.m., police were notified of a shooting victim at St. Francis Medical Center and went to investigate. There, authorities questioned a 19-year-old suspect who fit the description of one of the trio. During questioning, the 19-year-old confessed to being a part of the armed robbery and being shot by the woman. He was arrested on Oct. 16 on one count of aggravated burglary. Authorities are still searching for the other two burglars. (thenewsstar
