Armed Citizen® Today

The intended victim of an armed carjacking attempt in Seattle, Wash., fought back, shooting two of the would-be carjackers in an early-morning incident.

An investigation by Seattle police revealed that the vehicle owner had parked his sports car at about 3:30 a.m., when a white sedan with four suspects inside pulled up near the car. After an exchange between the driver of the sports car and the occupants of the sedan, two of the suspects, both of whom were armed, attempted to steal the car.

The driver, fearing for his life, drew and fired. One wounded suspect remained at the scene, while the white sedan with three other suspects fled. Later, a white sedan dropped off a seriously wounded suspect at an area hospital before speeding off again. Both wounded suspects received treatment while under armed guard. The armed citizen was initially detained by Seattle police for questioning, but he was later released, with officers noting that he was a "licensed gun owner." (Komo News; Seattle, Wash.; 11/10/25)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – June 1967

Two Sacramento, Calif., brothers, Daniel and Michael Valverde, were alerted in the early hours by noises at the rear of their home. After arming themselves with a shotgun, they found three men loading a truck with property from a neighbor's garage. Daniel held the men at gunpoint while his brother summoned the police. Sheriff John Misterly commented: "We could use more good work such as this by citizens. I compliment them." (Sacramento Bee, Sacramento, Calif.)
