Armed Citizen® Today

On March 5, a man was walking home from shopping at a Target in Boca Raton, Fla., when two men allegedly attacked him and began punching him repeatedly in the face. The man was able to retrieve a firearm from his backpack and fired it in self-defense. Security footage showed one of the suspects subsequently fleeing the scene and removing both a firearm and the victim’s phone from his bag. This suspect was apprehended and faces charges of robbery with a firearm and another weapons charge. The other alleged attacker was released pending further investigation. A would-be rapist awoke Claudine Hale in her Baltimore apartment, grabbed her by the throat and threatened to harm the children sleeping in the same room. Hale struggled with the assailant, then managed to reach a handgun, which she used to halt the attack. He fled after being shot, and a suspect was found dead nearby. Baltimore authorities declined to press charges against the woman. (The Evening Sun; Baltimore, Md.)
