American Rifleman's Joe Kurtenbach spent some time on the range with the SIG Sauer MPX Copperhead in 9 mm Luger just ahead of SHOT Show 2019. The modular, pistol-caliber, rotating-bolt MPX has been reduced in size and weight with the Copperhead, which has a 14.5" overall length with a 3.5" barrel (including an integral muzzle break). The gun weighs in at 4 1/2 lbs. Using the same short-stroke, gas-piston operating system as the MPX, the new pistol employs SIG Sauer's Pivoting Contour Brace (PCB), which allows side-to-side adjustment, and it has three positions. Finished in Cerakote E190, the upper receiver is monolithic with rail space for its entire top, while lower has knuckle to help keep the weak side hand from moving too far forward.Like the rest of the MPX line, controls are bilateral for the magazines release charging handle and safety. For more, visit SigSauer.com.
