Springfield Armory has announced the release of the 10-8 Performance Master Class 1911 pistol in .45 ACP and 9mm, a Lipsey’s distributor exclusive. Developed in partnership with Hilton Yam, founder of 10-8 Performance as well as a retired FBI Special Agent and SWAT firearms instructor, the 10-8 Performance Master Class 1911 has been designed with input from years of professional end-user experience.

Hilton Yam is a retired FBI Special Agent with more than two decades on duty in the Miami Field Office, including 19 years on its SWAT team as well as the Principal Firearms Instructor for the division. His in-depth experience building duty-grade 1911’s and components through 10-8 Performance—as well as his significant time in teaching the platform—makes Yam the ideal partner for this Lipsey’s Exclusive Master Class 1911.

Built on the foundation of hand-selected Springfield Armory forged-carbon-steel frames and slides along with forged-stainless-steel bull barrels, each full-size, 5-inch-barreled pistol is precisely fit and blended. Outfitted with select 10-8 Performance parts such as a reverse recoil-spring plug, extended magazine catch, flat trigger, specialized slide stop and 10-8 grips in G-10 by VZ Grips, this pistol and its squared trigger guard is capable and eye-catching. Rounding out the 10-8 1911 is aggressive 20 lpi frontstrap checkering, a two-piece extended mag well and three magazines packed in with each pistol.

Master Class pistols feature the Agency Optic System (AOS), developed in collaboration with Agency Arms. AOS employs a series of plates fitting a wide variety of today’s most popular optics following the RMR, Shield, DeltaPoint Pro and Docter footprints. An integral rear sight on each AOS plate offers proper optic height and intuitive sight picture for a visible co-witness in nearly all optic configurations. The pistols come standard with a cover plate with integrated rear sight as well as a coupon for purchase of the optic-mounting plate of the owner’s choice at a reduced price of $49.99. MSRP for both the .45 and 9mm pistols is $2,099.

“The new 10-8 Performance Master Class is a culmination of all the aspects of my time working with the 1911 — from competitive shooting, to my law enforcement career, to building and designing parts for them,” said Hilton Yam. “This pistol represents everything I would want in a production 1911.”

“Springfield Armory 1911 pistols have long been renowned for their durability and performance,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “We’re thrilled to be working with Hilton Yam and 10-8 Performance to bring our two company’s vision for this new Master Class pistol to reality — and the results speak for themselves.”
