Gun Of The Week: Armscor TM22-S-18

Built by Derya Arms of Turkey, and imported to the U.S. by Armscor, this TM22-S-18 is a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle with a sleek, modern-looking and ergonomic design, and it’s packed with features, too. Watch our video above to see this repeating rimfire in use on the range.

The TM22-S-18 seen here is one example of many in a line of repeating rimfires available today by Armscor. One of the first things you’ll notice about this version of the TM22 is its lightweight synthetic stock, which not only contributes to its overall durability, but also ensures comfortable handling during extended range sessions. The rifle is streamlined and lightweight, at under 5 lbs., which makes it easy to carry, whether you’re headed out for a day of plinking at the range or a bit of small game hunting with the kids in the field.

Although this TM22 does not have a threaded barrel, what it does offer are features typically unseen on guns of its price point. The rifle comes with an interesting set of adjustable sights front and rear for those that want to go old school right out of the box. However, a Picatinny-rail-topped receiver is included so that optics can be employed. There’s also a 10-round detachable box magazine included for quick reloads, especially for when those little critters are on the run. A lever between the enlarged trigger guard and magazine well will release the magazine with a simple flick forward. Rear of the trigger is a crossbolt safety. Pressing it to the left will allow the gun to fire.

The gun is adaptable, too, and can easily be configured for left- and right-handed shooters alike thanks to its removable charging handle. The creature comforts don’t end there. With the TM22-S-18, user adaptability and ergonomic appeal have been prioritized. Therefore, at its rear you’ll experience a grippy pad for reducing what minimal recoil the gun produces; however, the rubberized makeup helps to keep the durable synthetic stock glued to its position in the shoulder. You’ll also notice two vertical protrusions along either side of the buttstock. These are for mounting a comb riser to improve the sight picture for all shooters. Along the fore-end are grip-enhancing chevrons that further bolster positive purchase with the rifle. Interestingly, there’s a removeable fore-end cap that, once removed, exposes a section of Picatinny rail for accessories.

On the range our testers found the long sweeping wrist with textured panels to be a boon to all types of shooters; a smaller hand can choke up and reach the trigger as easily as large ones can creep rearward for that perfect reach. The gun’s trigger was noted to be superb, which is somewhat shocking considering the price. Out of the box with the adjustable sights, you’ll definitely get on target, and our testers appreciated the flip-up-and-down nature of the rear to clear low-mounted glass. We find this TM22 version with the 18” barrel makes is an ideal cost-saving option for those looking for a repeater that balances portability, ease of use and accuracy.
