Optics maker Leupold & Stevens represented its home state of Oregon in the “Made in America Product Showcase” Mon., July 17, 2017, in the East Room of the White House. As part of the event, Leupold presented its extensive line of riflescopes and other products built in its Beaverton, Ore., manufacturing plant.

“Leupold has called Oregon home since 1907, and we’ve never wavered in our commitment to American manufacturing,” said Bruce Pettet, president and chief executive officer for Leupold & Stevens, Inc. “It’s an honor to represent the state we’re proud to call home on the national stage, and it’s a testament to the dedication of our more than 700 American employees.”

The invitation is a validation of the commitment Leupold & Stevens has put into maintaining an American manufacturing base. In 1907, Frederick Leupold began repairing and building optics in Oregon, a tradition that continued in 1947 when a spoiled hunt caused Marcus Leupold to develop the company’s original riflescope, the first completely water-proof and fog-proof optic on the market.

Since then, Leupold has become the leading name in performance sporting optics and has dedicated itself to its relentless pursuit of innovation, ruggedness and manufacturing leadership.

As part of the president’s focus on putting America first, the “Made in America Product Showcase” features one manufacturer from each of the 50 states. During the event, President Donald Trump, along with Vice President Mike Pence, Cabinet members, and members of Congress will visit with attendees to learn more about the challenges American manufacturers face in the global economy.
