Daniel Defense is breaking new ground with the introduction of the Delta 5, the first bolt-action rifle in the company’s history. Chambered in three short-action cartridges—6.5 mm Creedmoor, 7 mm-08 Rem. and .308 Win.—the Delta 5’s modular construction allows for barrels to easily be swapped out without the need for assistance from a gunsmith. The .308 version comes with a 20” barrel, while both the Creedmoor and the 7 mm-08 have 24” barrels, all of which are cold-hammer-forged stainless steel and are threaded 5/8x28 TPI at the muzzle.

The Delta 5’s stainless-steel action makes use of a three-lug bolt, with a 60-degree bolt throw, and a 20-m.o.a.-canted scope mount is affixed to the top of the receiver. An Elite Hunter from Timney Triggers allows the pull weight on the rife’s single-stage trigger to be set to between 1 lb., 8 oz., and 4 lbs. A two-position safety lever is located on the rear right side of the receiver—in typical Remington 700 fashion.

A carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer stock allows both the Delta 5’s length-of-pull and comb-height measurements to be customized by the user. The shorter .308 weighs in just below 9 lbs., while the 6.5 mm Creedmoor and 7 mm-08 Rem. both tip the scales at 9 lbs., 8 ozs. All three chamberings are compatible with both AICS and Magpul PMAG 7.62 AC magazines. The MSRP on Daniel Defense’s first turnbolt is $2,199. For more information, visit danieldefense.com.
