Winchester’s Win1911

Winchester Ammunition has introduced an ammunition line designed around America’s most iconic handgun.

The Model 1911 pistol is an American icon, having earned its reputation in multiple wars and more than a century of both civilian and military use. Winchester Ammunition has now released an ammunition line specifically designed to accompany the M1911—the Win1911

“The M1911 pistol is one of the most recognizable and iconic firearms on the market,” said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition vice president of sales, marketing and strategy. “We at Winchester have undertaken significant testing to maximize functioning and accuracy with these new offerings to create an ammunition line that lives up to the name of the legendary pistol.”

The .45 ACP rounds will be available with either a flat-nose full-metal-jacket (FMJ) or jacketed hollow-point (JHP) design. The flat-nose FMJ rounds are built for accuracy and precision. The JHP rounds are designed to shoot to the same point of impact as their FMJ counterparts, with ballistics matched in velocity and trajectory.

Both the FMJ and JHP designs feature nickel-plated bullet jackets for easy identification and 230-grain bullets traveling at 880 fps, providing similarity in loads for both practice and personal defense.

Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't put a Zombie label on it to insult our intelligence, like everyone else is doing. I'm sure the one who marketed this idea got a pat on the back for out of the box thinking. Hope they fully tested the JHP to reliably expand at only 880fps, that's not the best velocity for that to happen at.

In a market already chock-full of gimmick guns and gimmick ammo, Winchester diverts its development and production to more of what we don't need, and don't want.

If this is to be iconic ammo for an iconic pistol then why flat nose bullets. (Rhetorical question)

Having used almost every 230gr. .45acp load on the market, as well as a 'few' thousand 'home-grown' in a variety of 1911-style pistols, I would be happy to run an unbiased user test, and submit my findings to whatever gun rag will publish them.

I will give them a try. White box is a little dirty, maybe these will be better. Hey, Winchester why not use WST powder? That stuff is clean!

I hope this stuff is better than their standard 230 Gr. FMJ 'White Box'. The 'white Box' shoots extremely dirty and fouls my 1911 Government like no tomorrow.

Winnie's 'White Box' loads are dirty on all their calibers. That is what HOPPESNo9 is for. But they always go 'BANG!'
