SHOT Show 2020: McMillan Z1 & Z10 Rifle Stocks

McMillan Stocks developed its new-for-2020 Z-1 stock to fit most Remington-type actions and most barrel contours with no factory or user modifications required.

The precision fiberglass stock, the first of the company's all-new Z-Series stocks, is inletted to accommodate nearly all barreled actions sharing the same action diameter and guard screw spacing as that of the Remington 700. This universal-fit approach eliminates the factory wait times for custom fiberglass stocks by streamlining production and shipping availability.

There's familiar DNA in the Z-1 stock, which combines elements of McMillan's popular A6, A10 and A5 tactical stocks. The Z-1 barrel channel accommodates nearly any barrel contour, and the factory inletting comes ready to accept most factory barreled actions with no additional work required. Thanks to the low stock line, no ejection port relief is needed. The oversized bolt notch accommodates all-size bolt heads.

The squared fore-end on the McMillan Z-1 stock provides a positive mating surface for a bipod and maximum stability when using a field rest. On the opposite end is a dual-purpose butt hook. This presents sturdy rear support on a shooting bag and a grip for the non-firing hand. The firing hand grip is vertically oriented for optimal trigger finger geometry. A thumb shelf placed above the grip and behind the action tang offers thumb support to reduce fatigue when waiting for the shot. At the top of the grip is a finger stop that allows the trigger finger to rest in exact alignment with the trigger.

Further assisting shooter ergonomics is an integral cheek piece that can be adjusted for a custom cheek weld and proper eye alignment. Length-of-pull is also customizable, thanks to an adjustable recoil pad.

The new Z-1 stock from McMillan is offered in all available finishes with an MSRP of $700-900.
