It’s a genius idea, really. For concealed-carry practitioners—ladies, who typically own more than one purse, and gents, who often transfer their carry gun from a briefcase to a vehicle console or other mode of transport—why not use a transferrable organizer insert that keeps the gun with other everyday essentials such as wallets, writing instruments, notebooks and eyeglasses? That’s exactly what an NRA-certified instructor and concealed-carry advocate named Kristen Franke thought, so she set about to design and create a solution. The result, Packin’ Neat, is a high-quality, self-standing pouch sewn in the United States from durable nylon with taped edges. A taller flapped firearm compartment features a magnetic fastener that conceals the gun, which rides in an included pocket holster that is held in place by a hook-and-loop tab at its bottom, and that can be detached and used separately. A large, lower catch-all area accommodates all manner of everyday items, and a series of flat pockets sewn to the outside keeps individual items at the ready. Several styles, colors and sizes are available. Price: $80 (Tactical Black). Contact: Packin’ Neat; (239) 887-8004; packinneat.com.
