Glock 17

Named for mechanical engineer Gaston Glock’s 17th patent, the Model 17 changed how and what handguns are made of.

It's still the most widely used law enforcement pistol worldwide and, despite its Austrian roots, the Model 17 and its variants have made cemented the word "Glock" into American pop culture.

Still going strong today, the Glock line has continued to win favor among firearms enthusiasts throughout the world. The Model 17 isn't the first Glock to be featured as a Gun of the Week, and it probably won't be the last.

    I wanted a 9mm 'cuz of ammo availability. I wanted a Glock 'cuz of reliability. Simplicity, accuracy, comfort high cap mags , minimal muzzle-flip and quick follow-up shots are all icing on the cake. I am working on CCW, so the 17 frame was a bit too large. The 26 was too small for a confident grip. I went with the 19, added a grip sleeve & couldn't be happier. I was absolutely amazed at how well I am matched to this weapon. Point-shooting ability is so naturally uncanny. It's certainty not the largest caliber, but shot placement is key- rapid follow-ups are a big plus. Kudos, Glock!

    I have one of the first 17's, still 100% reliable after all these years, eats everything I have run through it. Although Mitch is not wrong, I'm sure everyone will agree that the 1911 is as fine as any, a weapon for which ALL others have gained their roots, including the Glock... 100 years and still considered top of the list as the best "man stopper" in history...

    I like my 17 but I would use my 20 when the SHTF. Even over my 1911

    I own pistols from 22 to 45 cal, but the one I carry with me at all times is the Glock 17. I like its accuracy, high capacity, and tight groups. Have never failed to shoot in 7 years.

    The Glock 17 is the greatest pistol ever devised. Nothing else comes close, not remotely close, to being as simple to use, reliable, and durable, AND it is a high capacity pistol.

    Prefer the Glock 17-L with 6" Barrel. Tighter pattern at distance. Probably the best 9mm out there. No match for my Springfield Arms 45's.

    They are great pistols but I still carry the colt 45 government for the last 35 years.

    I have small hands, so I got a model 19, with adjustable sights and grip sleeve. Love the pistol. Then I got a model 26. Even smaller but I got an extended mag with the little rest for your finger which holds 2 more rounds to make 12. These are my primary self defense weapons. Simple, quick, safe! Perfect!
