FNH USA FNX-45

The U.S. Joint Combat Pistol Program didn’t exactly come to fruition within the military, but it did cause a number of manufacturers to produce new service-type handguns that consumers now get to enjoy. One of those is the FNX-45 from FNH USA, a polymer-frame, hammer-fired, double-action/single-action pistol based on the model FNH developed for the program.

The FNX-45 is a big pistol, measuring about 7 1/2 inches long and weighing 33 ounces unloaded. FNH focused on battlefield duty and not concealed carry when developing it. The size of the FNX-45 may rule out concealing it under clothing in most situations, but the pistol has plenty going for it as an open-carry or home-defense gun—not the least of which is a healthy magazine capacity of 15 rounds of .45 ACP.

Learn more about the FNX-45 with the video below, hosted by Shooting Illustrated's Adam Heggenstaller.

I bought this gun and the very first round I put through it the white plastic sight came out of the front sight post. Took it to the FNH service center in Arnold, Missouri. They've had it for three weeks! The service center personnel, with the exception of the guy who was there when I dropped it off, are not helpful at all. Extremely disappointed in FNH and wanting my money back. I had been planning on buying a SCAR 17S at some point but I think I'll Get a an H&K MR556 and save myself the head aches.

I have the tac model. I'm a pretty big guy (6'1'') and 280 and I can wear it under a NRA carry vest or a coat and its not noticible. It also fits nicely with the light in my Maxpedition carry bag. Its an improved verision of the FNP and the differences are rather minor IMHO. As to the mag capacity.. I agree with Mr. Jeff Cooper on just about anything, but I also believe that nobody ever said, 'gee I wish I had brought less ammo' in a gunfight. I had to choose between this and the HK 45 and went with the tactical model.. It is impossible to go wrong with this gun!

I have the older FNP-45 which seems to be exactly like this FNX. Anyway, best shooting and feeling .45 ever because of its size. I'm a small guy and I shoot it great. It's now my HD gun with a TLR-1 light. Mine came in a great package that included a Kydex holster, 2 mags and butt plates, and adjustable strap for handle and a dummy yellow barrel insert for practice. Love it! Price was amazing too for such a weapon package.

My son bought me FNX 45 as birthday gift. This is ultimate pistol. works flawless. As to holster availability, Winthrop makes custom holster for the 45 ; great quality at reasonable price.

bought my FNX-45 a few weeks ago and i love it. mine is all black though. shoots great with not to bad recoil. It groups better than my G30SF did. the way it feels in my hand is perfect. And it holds 15 rounds in the mag and still doesnt feel too heavy for me

Have the older FNP-45 and it's been a great weapon. You can conceal it with some forethought and a good holster.

Yea I bought a 9MM 16+1 and came with 2 extra mags ,= 49 rounds , it's deadly accurate, I prefer larger cal's. but my aging hands it's like a .22 to me now , also a streamlight mounted on frame to light up the night/ w lazer. great for the woods if your hand held goes out too..

I cannot say enough good things about my FNS 9. I am going to purchase the 45. If it is anything like the FNS 9, I am sure that I will be equally happy with the 45. Thanks FNH for continuing to produce top quality products for use and enjoyment by the shooting public.

bought one of these when they first hit the stores about a year ago.( The fnx45 tactial) I took it to the range and at 25 yards I could put a tennis ball in the hole in the center of the target. ' with standard ball ammo' I haven't shot a 45acp pistol this accurate since the NRA match 1911s I shot in USMC . I love this pistol. Only down side is you can't find a holster or mags for it.

Ive got one in .40S&W...the big sell point for me was the 100[%] ambidextrous controls, as I am left-handed. Great firearm. I carry mine concealed w/o much problem, but Im a pretty big guy.

You can conceal carry it... if your name is Goliath. Its not easy but it is possible.

I have the fnx 45 tactical that has slightly longer and threaded barrell raised night sights and a factory milled slide to accept a mini red dot. This is the only plastic gun that rivals my best 1911s in accuracy. And who can argue with 15+1 rounds of 45 acp on tap cocked and locked?
