When the Navy transitioned from the 1911, which I liked to the Beretta I was skeptical. I approached it with an open mind and decided to see what it could do. I was pleased and liked the weapon. That's the main brand I own now. I have Beretta's in M9, 96D Centurion, 96G Brigadier. I also have custom stainless barrels and slides for them in .40, .357 SIG, and 9x21 9mm. And with various custom grips. It's a great weapon and very accurate.

Funny i owned both the taurus and the beretta and the taurus always had ftf's while my beretta just keeps going. And to the people bashing it you were never in the military because if you were you see people who never shot a gun in their life qualify their first time out with groups better then most of you can shoot. (Yeah i know your all pro's.lol) And i own many handguns and have personaly seen people go from the beretta to my xd or glock or ruger and shoot like crap. And if you ever wanna have a shooting contest we will start at 20 yards and go out to 60 on clay pigeons and see who hits more you bring your better pistols and ill bring my beretta.

for those comparing this to the taurus pt92 stating one is better than the other. These weapons are one in the same. Made in the same factory in Brazil that Taurus bought from Beretta. Just a different name.

Darren Why all the accolades you ask? Because this gun has proven itself time and time again. If the gun doesn't seem accurate, brush up on your marksmanship skills because experts usually say that it is usually the operator's folly not the gun. You have no idea how accurate this gun is in a competent marksman's hands; in fact, I've read that soldiers and law enforcement people have taken out bad guys at 70+ yards with this pistol. Better still, I've heard of soldiers in the field take out SNIPERS with their m9s. THAT is how accurate this gun is. Uncomfortable? I beg to differ; if it does feel "uncomfortable" to you, buy some hogue grips or wood grips and try them out and see what works best for you. Stop putting down this weapon and everything it stands for like stupid 1911 fans who don't know how to grow up and accept the fact that their precious 1911s were replaced by an equally good gun made by the oldest gun manufacturer's in the world.

I would just like to ask what makes this a good weapon? In my opinion it is by far the worst weapon I have ever fired. It was just incredibly uncomfortable and accuracy was terrible. Why all the accolades ?

I like my Beretta very much, and I could care less what anybody says about how the 1911 or their .45 acp is better. I've owned and shot a 1911 in .45 and I don't care for them. They're heavy, they kick like a mule, and I had a problem with mine jamming because the slide would work its way out of the frame after firing a magazine of ammo. My beretta has given me zero problems and it's one heck of an accurate pistol.

Odd the Military stays with this when a lot of guys going over buy a .45 and take along.

A perfect gun IMO with 2 drawbacks, it is a little heavy to carry and the 10 shot clip is impossible for me to hand load due to the strong spring pressure. Without a loading tool I would not be able to use the gun.

The decocker, easy of disassembly for cleaning and ever so solid feal makes the 92 FS my favorite hand gun, by far. It is perfectly suited for us 65+ folks with arthritis.

I owned a 92F for many years. Two things always impressed mw about it, one very good, one less so. The lesser point is that the pistol seemed huge compared to a 1911, especially considering that one is 9 mm and the other .45. The other was how reliable the 92 was. A friend form a local police department with an issued Sig, would come out to the farm with a paper bag full of practice ammo, and I would have a similar quantity of hand loads. Between the Sig and my Browning HP we would collect a small pile of rounds that failed to chamber or failed to fire in either the Sig or the Browning. At the end of the day I would load all the rejects into a Beretta Mag. The 92 would gobble them up like popcorn, never a problem of any kind eating a diet only or rounds rejected by the Sig or the Browning.

A fine weapon once the trigger pull is addressed with the D spring. Would be even better if the safety were frame based rather than attached to the slide. Dated but nice.

Marc L, You must not have even held one in your hands. Beretta 92FS has a de- cocker safety with DA first shot. Very forgiving for the inexperienced user who forgets the 4 basic safety rules.

I've owned and carried one as a duty weapon since 1984. Fine pistol. Young cops who buy SIGS and Glocks come out of the academy and have not been able to qualify with their gun. They put a Beretta 92 in their hands and the shoot well. Beretta did make a Cougar a number of years ago in .45 AC. It was slightly smaller than the 92, but a great gun also. Never a malfunction in all the years of shooting and qualifying with mine. It is a true high-class firearm!

Have a .40 cal and love it. Also, a laser sight replaces the recoil spring guide and is totally concealed

The Beretta 92Fs is not as good as the Taurus PT92 Stainless Steel which holds 17 rounds and shoots better that a Glock. Plus it's about hundred dollars cheaper and looks just like the Beretta

I have the Taurus in SS; I've heard it's as good, and in some ways better. I like it, but it is a bit bulky.

I always heard the M9 was too big for small hands. So I steered clear--I have medium/small hands. This was supposed to be 'reality'. Well check this! I noticed the round top and sight setup of the M9 lead to a supernatural sight picture for me. I noticed this in videogames! But before you pass be as another videogame loser, please read on: While playing MW2 I found that a pistol with a round top was easier to aim than say a squre-top Glock. I also like the way the sights seems taller. The round top makes it easier to figure where the barrel is. When I went to hold an M9 at the LGS recently, I found the 'videogame sight picture' was very similar to the real thing! I also realized the M9 was not too big as all the losers in 'real life' always said. In fact, the M9 is more useable being a full size battle pistol, though of course it may not be as ideal for CCW as a subcompact Glock due to its size... The M9 looks like the autopistol for me. The only drawback is the price is a bit steeper than a Glock or a Sig SP2022, but for good reason! It's not just another throw-away plastic gun If you like plastic guns than cool, I have a Sig SP2022. It's cool, but I wouldn't miss it. I also shot a compact Glock 9mm *forgot the model* and it felt like a toy compared to the revolvers I've shot and the Ruger Mark III I own. I guess I enjoy a heavier metal gun versus plastic. Call it polymer all you want, it is plastic in MY hands :P A word of advice--don't stick to just one style of gun. At least, hold several types in your hands to see what fits and what works for you! Peace, and God bless!

Steven, You are right, it does not come in .45 but does come in .40 S&W. It's not a .45 but a darn good caliber nonetheless.

This is my next pistol. I don't own a full size 9mm. I do own every other caliber. I have decided that the Beretta 92 Series pistol will be the full-size 9mm for me.

If the Glock 19 was 'Made in America' it would replace this gun.
