If there’s one trend in bolt-action hunting rifles, it’s lighter, lighter and then even lighter. Rifle maker Bergara is already well-established in the lightweight hunter category with models like its Crest and MgLite. New for 2024, the company is taking its Premier series MgLite and making it even lighter and more compact with the MgMicro Lite.

Like other rifles in Bergara’s Premier series, the MgMicro Lite has a Premier action at its core. Built on a Model 700 footprint, the internals of the Premier action are uniquely Bergara, with features like a spiral-fluted bolt with a floating head, spring-loaded sliding plate extractor and threaded-on bolt handle. The trigger unit is by TriggerTech.

To this action is mated an 18” No. 6 profile Bergara CURE carbon-fiber-wrapped barrel, a patented design that maximizes stiffness, weight savings and heat dissipation, with its muzzle threaded 5/8x24 TPI for attaching suppressors and other muzzle devices.

Action and barrel are placed in a XLR ATOM magnesium chassis, which weighs just 27 ozs. when equipped with the MgMicro Lite’s carbon-fiber buttstock and pistol grip. Despite being a minimalist design, the buttstock has an adjustable cheek rest, recoil pad, and M-Lok slots. For maximum compactness, the stock folds to render the MgMicro Lite nearly 10” shorter than its 37” overall length with the stock deployed.

The chassis’ fore-end has both a machined-in ARCA rail and M-Lok slots. Other chassis features include a built-in bubble level that allows for maintaining an optic’s level with the rifle mounted to the shoulder and the ability to accept AICS-pattern detachable magazines. A five-round box is supplied with each rifle.

The MgMicro Lite is available chambered in .308 Win. (1:10” twist), 6.5 mm Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC (1:8” twist). Weight for the .308 Win. version is 5.8 lbs., and the 6.5 mm Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC models are 5.9 lbs.

The Bergara MgMicro Lite has an MSRP of $3,099 for 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win. versions and $3,149 for the 6.5 PRC version. For more information, visit bergara.online.
