Federal Premium, Speer

Federal Premium and Speer were the only two companies to be awarded in all four categories of the recent handgun ammunition bid from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), parent company Vista Outdoor announced this year. Both companies were the primary contract winners for training and frangible ammunition and received secondary designations for full-size and micro service rounds.

“It is an honor that our brands continue to be selected for use by the most trusted law enforcement agency and that it values the products we make,” Federal President Jason Vanderbrink said. “The ongoing validation of the technology and performance found in every round of ammunition made by our highly skilled American workforce brings great pride to our company.”

The one-year, indefinite-quantity contract also features four possible option years. Three of the loads used by the FBI will be produced at Federal’s facility in Anoka, Minn., while the fourth will be produced by the Speer factory in Lewiston, Idaho.
