Taurus threw its hat into the “micro nine” (sub-compact, 10+ shot, 9 mm Luger handgun) market with its GX4 in 2021. The GX4 line has had additions over the years, including the XL model and the optics-ready T.O.R.O. version. For 2023, Taurus is adding a new model to its GX4 family, with the GX4 Carry, which the company calls an “everyday carry solution.”

The GX4 Carry uses the same 3.71” barrel as the GX4XL for an overall length of 6.40”. Where the XL uses an extended magazine with a grip adapter, the Carry has an extended frame. This extra length accommodates a 15-round magazine. This is two extra rounds over the XL and four more than the standard GX4. Two magazines are supplied, and a 10-round version is available for areas that have capacity restrictions. A 17-round extended magazine is also offered. The Carry also adds a full M1913 Picatinny rail on its dust cover. The pistol’s overall height is 5.15”, its width is 1.08” and it weighs 21.51 ozs.

The GX4 Carry has many of the same features as the original GX4 striker-fired, polymer-framed pistol. Grip size can be customized with three removable backstraps, and the magazine release is reversible. An alloy steel slide uses a gas-nitride finish, and the barrel has a DLC coating.

The GX4 Carry has steel sights, with a drift-adjustable serrated notched rear and a fixed front post with a white dot. Its sights are compatible with aftermarket Glock-pattern sights. The Carry is offered with iron sights only or in the Taurus Optics Ready Option (T.O.R.O.) configuration. The T.O.R.O. system allows optics with a Shield RMSc footprint to mount directly to the slide.

The GX4 Carry T.O.R.O. has an MSRP of $505 and the standard GX4 Carry is $470. For more information, visit taurususa.com.
