Mossberg expanded its Patriot bolt-action rifle lineup in 2023 with the new Long Range (LR) Tactical, which is housed inside an adjustable chassis and feeds from commonly found AICS-pattern magazines. The new precision rifle offers an accurate platform to long-range shooting enthusiasts, and in compatibility with those pursuits, the rifle is chambered for 6.5 mm Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC and .308 Win. at launch.

Built on Mossberg's Patriot rifle action, the Patriot LR Tactical features a dual-lug, push-feed bolt sitting inside a machined-steel action. Mated to the action is a carbon-steel, medium bull barrel with an 11-degree target crown and a 5/8-24 TPI threaded muzzle. A thread cap is included with each rifle, and the barrel is treated with a matte-blue finish. Sitting atop the steel receiver is a Picatinny optics rail with 20 m.o.a. of extra elevation adjustment built in. The barreled action also features Mossberg's Lightning Bolt Action adjustable trigger, which can be tuned by the end user to break between 2-7 lbs.

The entire Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical barreled action sits inside a Modular Driven Technologies Field Stock, a chassis system that includes V-block aluminum bedding. The stock on the MDT chassis is adjustable for length of pull (LOP), thanks to the three included 3/4" spacers, allowing users to adjust LOP between 13.5" to 14.25". Additionally, the comb height can be adjusted across a range of 2". An oversized trigger guard allows for use with gloved hands, and the magazine-release lever is located just forward of the trigger guard. Other notable features of the MDT Field Stock include a textured straight grip, front and rear sling-swivel studs and M-Lok accessory slots at the 3-, 6- and 9-o'clock positions on the fore-end. The stock is finished in flat dark earth.

Models of the Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical chambered for 6.5 mm Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC are equipped with a 22" and a 24" barrel, respectively, and each features a 1:8" twist rate. The .308 Win.-chambered model of the Patriot LR Tactical is outfitted with a 22" barrel featuring a 1:10" twist rate. Each rifle ships with a single metal AICS magazine with a capacity for 10 rounds, except for the 6.5 PRC magazine, which tops out at seven rounds.

The suggested retail price on the Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical is $1,085. For more details, visit mossberg.com.
