SIG Sauer Electro-Optics expanded its lineup of Ballistic Data Xchange (BDX) riflescopes in 2020 with the addition of its SIERRA6BDX optic, a so-called "super-zoom" riflescope that's compatible with the company's BDX 2.0 ballistic calculator.

“Our mission with the new SIERRA6BDX riflescope line was to bring all of the advanced features of the BDX 2.0 platform to a premium 6X zoom system,” said Andy York, president, SIG Sauer Electro-Optics. “These scopes feature HDX high transmission and high definition optical design, 6X magnification ranges, up to 95 percent light transmission, thinner Digital Focal Plane BDX-R2 hunting reticle with 194 LEDs with wind holds, and up to 30 yards of Bluetooth range to BDX connected rangefinders.”

Three different models are available in the SIG Sauer SIERRA6BDX riflescope family: 5-30x56 mm, 3-18x44 mm and 2-12x40 mm. Each optic is equipped with the company's SmartBDX reticle, as well as SIG's unique KinETHIC Energy Transfer Indicator, which calculates the amount of energy created by the platform's cartridge at certain ranges, giving hunters the information they need to ensure a clean, ethical kill at distance. The optic also comes equipped with SIG's LevelPlex system, an internal leveling system that alerts shooters that the scope is canted to a degree that will affect in-reticle calculations and adjustments.

The SIG Sauer BDX System is an advanced applied-ballistics calculator designed to remove the guesswork involved in taking an accurate long-range shot. The system works by pairing compatible BDX riflescopes with the company's KILO BDX rangefinders, thanks to the built-in Bluetooth compatibility found in each unit. The system includes nine pre-loaded Ballistic Drop Compensation reticles, as well as eight pre-loaded ballistic groups, enabling shooters and hunters to get on target fast and easy. After a ballistic shooting solution is calculated based on the user's rifle, load and distance, one of the 194 LEDs inside the reticle will light up, indicating the holdover point needed for an accurate shot.

SIG Sauer's SIERRA6BDX 2-12X and 3-18X riflescopes are built on 30 mm body tubes, and the higher-magnification 5-30X riflescope is built on a 34 mm tube. Each optic in the SIERRA6BDX lineup features 0.25 MOA adjustments and are rated IPX-7 waterproof. Depending on the magnification level selected, weight ranges from 21.4 ozs. to 30.4 ozs. The suggested retail price on the SIERRA6BDX lineup starts at $1,169.99. For more information on these new optics and other riflescopes in the SIG Sauer Electro-Optics lineup, visit sigsauer.com.
