Escaped convicts apparently don’t like to heed good advice. Roy Bieluch was on the run in Wallace, Idaho, after he had escaped from a Shoshone County lockup. He ended up on Brian Becker’s property. When Becker heard a noise in his yard, he grabbed his gun and went to investigate. Becker saw Bieluch and told him to stop and keep his hands where he could see them. Bieluch refused, then moved toward Becker, who shot him. Bieluch is back in custody after being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. (KREM.com, Spokane, WA, 2/20/15)

Three Clintwood, Va. youths who ransacked a Ford dealership and a movie theater late one night, should have quit while they were ahead. Instead, they drove their stolen pickup truck to Carlos Shortt’s “Country Store” and began looting that establishment. It was a mistake. Shortt detected the presence of the youths and put a speedy end to their criminal career, by holding the trio at shotgun point until sheriff’s deputies arrived to take them into custody.
