Numerous firearm companies make significant announcements at the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, and this year was no different; in fact, here in Indianapolis, Barrett introduced the new Fieldcraft variant of the bolt-action Model 98B. Designed with the hunter in mind, the Fieldcraft is available in three chamberings-7 mm Rem. Mag., .308 Win., and .300 Win. Mag.-with either an 18” (.308 Win.) or a 24” (magnum chamberings) barrel. Total weight is, at minimum, 9.25 lbs., and the detachable-box magazine holds 10 rounds.
There’s also an extensive length of Picatinny rail to which scope bases can be attached, as well as extensive KeyMod slots on the aluminum fore-end for the attachment of accessories. It will be available in six colors-black, OD green, flat dark earth, tungsten grey, multi-role brown, and burnt bronze, and will retail for $3,995.
