So, in some ways, it is Groundhog Day. I have arrived in Las Vegas for the 2014 Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show. It is something like my 22nd, maybe 23rd, as one tends to lose count. There were familiar faces at the airport and in the hotel lobby, many of whom I have not seen face-to-face since last year. While the faces may be familiar, the guns that will be unveiled tomorrow will not. Many I have kept under wraps, waiting until the companies that make them were ready to go public.
Tomorrow is Media Day at the Range, the officially sanctioned event and where you will find most of the major-and quite a few minor-companies in the firearms industry. It is my plan to slip out mid-day and hit the SIG Sauer event after the main Media Day. There are quite a few new SIGs you will see and get our impressions of at quitting time on Monday but we cannot reveal at present.
Tomorrow is the first time prototypes and production models of the new firearms, ammunition and accessories will be handed to the firearm press. Quite a few new and interesting designs will be released, and NRA’s E-Media coverage will be will worth staying tuned to for the latest in guns and gear.
