Inaugural NRA National Defense Matches Announced

Do you want to improve your AR-15 skills? The inaugural NRA National Defense Matches (NDM) can help you achieve your goals. Scheduled for Oct. 12-13 at Peacemaker National Training Center, in Gerrardstown, W.Va., the matches are designed to develop and test defensive rifle skills, and are intended for people of nearly all skill levels.

The basic-level NDM, designed for new shooters, calls for shots and reloads in a variety of positions from 100 to seven yards. The advanced-level NDM, held on multiple bays from 50 to seven yards, calls for shooters to move quickly from one firing point to the next, taking shots from the most advantageous position possible. The championship-level, open-terrain NDM, calls for shooters to maneuver through undulating forested terrain, engaging targets from difficult firing positions, at distances out to 500 yards.
