Behind Survival Trial

Behind Survival Trial

Back in February, I had the opportunity to attend one of the most interesting events I’ve ever seen: Survival Trial III: Winterborn.

Held at the NRA Whittington Center, Survival Trial is an adventure race where two-person teams use urban and rural survival skills to compete in challenges.

While I’ve already featured Survival Trial in a blog and a photo gallery—also look for the upcoming feature article in Shooting Illustrated—organizer Jon Weiler sent me a recently uploaded YouTube video on Survival Trial. He sent it because it shows parts of my interview with him before the event. It also shows an interesting behind-the-scenes look at the work required for an event of this magnitude.

If you’ve ever wanted a challenge, you should consider Survival Trial. However, you had better start looking now; it fills up really quickly.

Below is the view from the mountains around the Whittington Center, which is part of the Survival Trial arena.
