Streamlight has introduced a new version of its rechargeable HID LiteBox searchlight, with a 12-volt DC power cord to allow for continuous operation.

The lantern features High Intensity Discharge technology to provide users with a light that can illuminate objects out to a mile away. This new model gives users the flexibility of using the battery or plugging into a DC power source.

"This new version of our HID LiteBox ensures that first responders, industrial and utility workers or military personnel don't have to worry about running out of light," said Streamlight Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Michael Dineen. "The lantern is also portable, so if users need to relocate, they can simply disconnect the power cord and carry it with them to light their way.”

The lantern combines a 35-watt Xenon lamp with Streamlight's deep-dish parabolic reflector technology to deliver 3,350 lumens and one million candela peak beam intensity. The searchlight produces a long-range focused beam that is ideal for search and rescue operations and illuminating public areas, roadways or accident scenes. The lantern's 90-degree swivel neck allows users to aim the beam precisely where it is needed for optimized task lighting.

The lantern includes a 10-foot cord that can be plugged into a 12-volt DC power source, and has a zero-maintenance 12-volt, 7.2 Amp/hour sealed lead acid rechargeable battery is rechargeable up to 500 times, and operates the HID lamp for up to 1.75 hours per charge.

The HID LiteBox measures 14.9 inches in length and weighs 10.1 pounds. Other features include:

• Weatherproof, high-impact ABS thermoplastic housing
• Cushioned grip handle
• Reinforced D-rings that allow attachment of an included shoulder strap
• Vehicle Mount System
• Available in Orange

The HID LiteBox has an MSRP of $859 and comes with Streamlight's Limited Lifetime Warranty.
