Unlike some operator-style pants, Vertx Phantom Lightweight Tactical Pants are designed to move with the wearer more like athletic clothing, but are still rugged and serviceable.

Thanks to a lack of Velcro, the pants are quiet, too. Vertx’s 65/35 percent poly/cotton fabric is treated to repel moisture and resist stains yet breathes and is comfortable against the skin. Action-oriented features include a gusseted crotch and articulated knees for unhindered freedom of movement. Storage areas include integrated side cargo pockets with bellows pleats, front slash pockets with a notch for folding knife clips, and a concealed, right-side zippered pocket. Sizes run from 32- to 52-inch waist and 3-" and 34-inch inseams, and the pants come in black or tan. Price: $62-$68.
