Early In my 60 years of handling firearms, I had 2 incidents of accidental discharge prior to cleaning. Luckily only floors were shot. BOTH could have been avoided by doing the check. SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY!

I have always kept my finger off the trigger, which my grandfather taught me but I haven't always checked a gun when people have handed me one. Thanks for the reminder. Very important to always check. I can't imagine how many accidental injuries could be averted by just 'checking' and teaching people to check. Thanks
