That's a popular gun; but with very limited range. That cartridge is a short-ranged affair, as it was meant to be. But at longer ranges the gunner can make it rain .45 slugs.

The correct title should be: Thompson Submachine Gun, U.S. Navy Model. Auto-Ordnance Corporation did not advertise for sale a "Colt Navy Thompson." This phrase is simply collector speak. And John T. Thompson did not design the Thompson Submachine Gun. General Thompson was the developer; he assembled a small team of engineers and formed the Auto-Ordnance Corporation. The result of these efforts was the production in 1921 of a submachine gun named after General Thompson.
