Guns & Gear of the SEALs

With a drop-out rate of 85 percent in Basic Underwater Demolition School (BUDS), the U.S. Navy SEALs pride themselves on taking only the very best into “the teams.” Once through BUDS, a SEAL still has a lot of training before being officially awarded a trident. Once in, however, a SEAL is outfitted with some of the best equipment in the U.S. military.

Thank you, thank you thank you. The words "THANK YOU" cannot express the amount of love, respect and admiration I have for not only SEAL TEAM 6, but for all of the men and women of all branches of America's military services. I again want to thank you all for standing tall in between me and all of those who seek to destroy America and telling me no one will cause me harm, not on your watch. It breaks my heart every time an American citizen bad mouths you. In stead of disrespecting you, those people should thank God for being a winner in life's "lottery" by being blessed for being born in America just as I do. Thank you all once again.

As other commenters have noted, the MK48 is NOT a modified version of a M240. It is a scaled up version of the MK46, which is itself a modified version of the M249. American Rifleman and their writers should know better.

These "SEALS" are wearing Army UCP pattern camoflage instead of AOR pattern.

Wow no one has mentioned that is MA2 Michael Monsoor who posthumously received the Congressional Medal of Honor? That’s how you know they are SEALs please note the spelling format when referring to this unit in the future …. Regards,

Notice the M14/M1A the second SEAL is carrying.

Almost more interesting is the MK14 Mod 0 being carried by the next SEAL.

The Mk48 is NOT a short-barreled version of the M240. Rather, it is a 7.62mm version of the Mk46, which is a lightened, product-improved M249. Compare the receivers of the Mk48 and you will see that it has much more in common with the M249 than the M240.
