Steve, the cylinder latch is on the left side of the revolver. Honestly, you didn't notice the pistol has been turned over???

It would appear the "careful hand polishing" was done on a buffing wheel by someone who cared little for maintaining the original crisp edges of this classic pistol. It's shiny, for sure, but every edge is rounded-over. None of the original contours have been retained. This is poor, amateurish workmanship and I'd be outraged to get a gun back in this condition.

I have an H&R 999 that was in a fire 20 years ago and has been sitting in the basement in a box. It cycles the cylinder and the hammer, the pop up slips the cylinder up. Can it be refinished? Pits and roughness is OK. I am looking for a shooter for my grand kids not a collector or show piece.

I have to agree with Bill. I'm not put off with the "fair wear and tear" that shows on the pistol in its original condition. It looks like the buffing/polish resulted in rounded corners and rounded sharp edges. Other than that its a pretty blue job.

i think the original finish is better, the bluer buffed to much, all the sharp edges are rounded. a nice pistol was trashed. sorry but it takes a real expert to do a great reblue job. But its still a good carry pistol.I am a forensic firearms examiner and maybe a little critical.

Nice job but the excessive buffing seems to have removed the cylinder latch.
