Best New Hunting ARs

AR rifles continue to be the fastest selling product segment among long-gun sales. And while the popularity of the platform remains solidly entrenched among competitive shooting, casual plinking and varmint- and predator-hunting crowds, interest continues to expand among more mainstream hunters of both big and small game, especially with the introduction of these hunting-specific models.

I'm not really into AR's like everyone else. I prefer wood-stocks & Bolt Actions. The closest thing to an AR on my 'Gun List' is a Ruger Mini-14 with, whadd'ya know, a wood stock & 20rd magazine. I just love bolt actions too much :) I think I need to shoot a decent AR-15, maybe then I'll like it more.

I have been using the AR platform for hunting for about 10 years now. I can't believe that this "Miracle" rifle just came into being in the past few years. Mine was originally made for me by Fulton Armory when they made custom uppers to order. My needs were simple. I wanted an AR platform upper that was for scope only, try to get 1" riser blocks back then. I wanted a 1:11 twist for 40 to 45 grain Sierra or most recently Barnes Varmint Grenade. Well it took about 6 months to get it and it shoots flat out to 300m. The lower is a Bushmaster, the one that's allowed in NJ, did the original test on the AR Timney trigger. Left the buttstock alone but put an adjustable pad on it. Last note, I took my last groundhog out at about 250m. He was hiding down in the grass eating away. The bullet zipped through a bit of grass, went in and did it's job. Thank you Stoner for such a great rifle!
