As a 21yr old Philadelphia PA grad Art student ... I spent the entire summer of 1966 landscape painting the Taos, N.M. area with my mentor, his family and 2 fellow students. Later I remember donating only a few bucks to the NRA Whittington Ctr. fund when under construction. I now have a former PA painting student painting in Santa Fe. Hoping to visit soon I intend to see how my modest investment has grown to benefit many thousands of NRA members. I intend to shoot, take lots of photos & paint a landscape or two while there. I'm 67 now and can't wait to go and expect to share the visit with those same 2 students also. One is still like a brother to me and the other is the mother of our 43 yr old artist daughter with 3 artistic kids of her own. Each is being trained in gun saftey so they will be ready and mature to safely enjoy their choice of the shooting sports as well as their mutual love of and practice in their developing skills in the visual arts. For those whom might benefit in their shooting efforts : The study of perspective in the visual arts can drastically improve one's aim in judging distances. Just one of the many skills including a second language that a little study and practice of drawing can give anyone.
