GOTW: North American Arms Black Widow

There are plenty of pocket pistols on the market today, but few can compete with the North American Arms Black Widow in size and portability. This five-shot, single-action, mini-revolver is only about 5¾-inches long, and although its frame and cylinder are made of stainless steel, the gun weighs less than 9 ounces.

I've stated it here before, and I must state it again: This design is a disaster waiting to happen (again!). Your hand(s) is/are in a perfect position to receive all the searing gas, shrapnel, carbon, that WILL come spewing out the side of the cylinder when a rimfire cartridge ruptures at the rear when struck by the firing pin. It happens occasionally with all rimfire ammunition, but most guns don't put our hands right in the place where the most damage can be done. I strenuously advise all my friends and acquaintances to avoid this design like the plague. It has happened and I can see no reason it will not happen again. I have the right hand with some of the brass still in it and the scars from the necessary surgery still visible on it.

I bought one of these and within a week the main hammerspring broke and I had to order another one from the factory.(I bought 2)it was tricky to install without bending it too much. itt works fine now but I have the thought always there that the spring might break again when I need the gun the most.
