Springfield's new XD-S was one of the most popular guns at Media Day at the Range 2012, and with good reason. The newest addition to the XD line, the XD-S features a slim, single stack frame that still manages to deliver the infamous .45 caliber firepower.

The XD-S's slim feel and comfortable design make it easy to handle and shoot. American Rifleman Editor-in-Chief Mark Keefe wanted to see the gun put through its paces by a true pro at Media Day, and so he turned to champion shooter Rob Leatham. Check out the results in the video above!

    I just got the xdm 45. Acp 3.8 compact. Wow this thing is great. Best never fail pistol ive ever owened. Get one I know you will love it. My compact clip holds 9+1 and the extended holds 13+1. So nice very loud but check one out. Cost about 6-$680.00

    It's a keeper. But remember it is a .45 shoot it like one and all will be well.

    All it was cracked up to be and more. Got mine a couple weeks ago. Light, well-crafted, accurate, and concealable.

    I wish they would hurry up and get this in my town. I have the xdm 40 3.8 and love it. The seven round mag is a great choice also, I like a little something to hang on to.

    If they can offer a optional 7 round magazine with the grip adapter like their other pistols, it would be perfect.

    I am looking forward to this gun. I have a xdm 3.8 compact but most of the time it is to bulky and heavy. I think this will be right size and weight for me. BTW the weight is 21.5 oz not 29 oz. Springfield's new website for the XD-S. http://xdspistol.com/

    5 in the mag and 1 in the chamber? Wow!!! Mmmm no thankyou. I have a xdm 3.8 compact with the 19 round mag. Ill take a little more beef for a lack of thickness of my gun
