Another look at the Ruger SR22

1/16/2012

The Ruger SR22 was on display at SHOT Show Media DayOne of the many exciting new products from Ruger for 2012, the Ruger SR22 is a blowback-operated semi-automatic pistol with a fixed barrel and an external hammer that is capable of double- or single-action operation.

It has a glass-filled polymer frame, an aluminum slide, and its lower grip has two interchangeable sleeves that can slide on or off easily to accommodate shooters with different-sized hands. The SR22 is 6 1/2 half inches long and 5 inches tall, and weighs in at about 17½ ounces unloaded.

Juice - love your post!!! I have the SR22 and the M&P 15/22 and I could not agree more. With a few thousand rounds of American Eagle or CCi its a day of fun! Steel, paper, busting clays...it's all good fun.

Rod don't be dictator! If you can't figure out a safety on a gun you own, please donate it to me. this gun is fun. I purchased it a few weeks ago and can't seem to buy enough ammo. I shoot at the reactive targets for hours and it never gets old. Do yourself a favor, buy the s&w mp15-22 and the ruger sr22 pistol. Bring about 3000 rds of ammo and kiss your wife and kids goodbye because you won't be back until dark. 22lr and a few nice guns to fire is the best experience anyone could have shooting all day. Ruger did an awesome job with this gun and for a fair price. If you have any doubts about buying one or are comparing it to other 22 pistols don't bother. You are wasting your time, I have the sig mosq and the walther p22. The ruger is strides in front on this junk. In fact I don't know why I still have these other guns. I better trade them in before the masses find out about the ruger because they will be worth a fraction of what I can get for them now.

The safety is backwards from all other Ruger (and other mfgs) pistols. You flip the lever up (instead of down - like every other pistol) to fire. Confusing at best, dangerous at worst. One would think that this could become a big liability problem for Ruger.
