Ruger American Rifle

7/2/2012

Ruger's American Rifle hit the market earlier this year and gave consumers a high-quality rifle at a price that any shooter could afford. Durable, lightweight and accurate, the American Rifle is a true return to Ruger's company roots.

There's a lot to love about this rifle and little to dislike. Call us clichéd, but we just couldn't resist naming the "Ruger American Rifle" to this spot during the single most patriotic week of the year.

I had not hunted in years so I was in the market for a decent rifle. After about a month of research I chose the Ruger American in .270. I figured since this was an inexpensive rifle I would not spent much on a scope so I bought a 3x9x40 Bushnell Banner. What a suprise!!! This rifle may be inexpensive but it does not lack in quality. Within the first two days I killed 2 white tale bucks with ease. Recoil is not even noticable. This rifle was a great choice!!!!!!

I bought the American in 30-06. after shooting a box of factory rounds i took it home to try some reloads, upon inspection of the cases i found very deep creases in the web area, about too the point of blowout, sent cases and gun back to Ruger. Waite and see

I got mine today can't wait to shot it. I think is is going to be a great starter gun for my daughter to elk hunt with this year. I like the smooth bolt and the trigger as well as the rotary mag. I have sold a few to customers now it is my turn to own and shoot one.

I just bought one yesterday, This makes about ten Rugers in my collection now. I topped it with a Weaver 3 x 9. I've shot a box and 1/2 of Federal 130 gr. This is a great little gun, I love shooting it.

Not impressed. Ruger makes an excellent .22, and their wheelguns are some of the best, but for a centerfire rifle, Im gonna go for a five round (at least) detatchable box magazine, that rotary crap on a large caliber is nonsense, proprietary Ruger tech or not. I'm sick of rotary mags. So, guess what? Just bought a Savage in .308. Cheers.

Nope - Savage Edge/Axis - added left hand bolts this year at the same price as the RH guns. $100 cheaper than Ruger.
