BRAND NEW at SHOT Show: The Kimber Micro CDP .380

1/17/2012

The Kimber Micro CDP .380SHOT Show is one of the first—and best—chances that manufacturers have to pitch their latest hardware to the rest of the industry, and the folks at Kimber didn't waste anytime in unveiling their new Kimber Micro CDP .380.

Described by the company's representatives as something akin to a miniature 1911, the  Micro CDP .380 delivers a sturdy, reliable build, solid stopping power and a built in laser sight in a package that's ideal for anyone to use in a carry conceal capacity. All told, the Micro CDP weighs in at 17 ounces and its smooth single action trigger system maintains the accuracy of a far larger model.

Kimber representatives were ready and willing to discuss the new Micro CDP .380 with the AmericanRifleman.org staff, and you can get your own glimpse of their new product by watching the video below.

Get a closer look at the rest of Kimber's SHOT Show reveals in the Kimber Booth Tour Gallery.

Im sure this will be a great carry piece from the start. I own the P238, Solo, and Ultra eclipse and they are all different. I have one of the first Solos and after some 'groing pains' it is now my every day CC choice. My wife carries the stainless 238 and loves it. I'm sure this new Kimber will be a best in class from the start.

All said and done... The original and the best .380 in a 1911 frame, Mustangs rule. Now more since the reintroduction of new stock made with new high tech machinery.

Since SIG bought Colts patent they make a P-238 that looks like a miniature 1911, which looks like the original Colt Mustang that they are all copying. Kimber is really late for the party as the Sig P-238 already has many models and all these features plus an all stainless model. There is a Crimson Trace Laserguard for the P-238 which is outstanding. Being Kimber I doubt they will beat the SIG on price but I am sure they will build a great little gun.

Should be available in about 12-18 months like everything else they come out with new.

This would be a nice addition to my Kimber collection, including the Solo which I feel is a terrific pocket 9mm. It's not a 1911, and shouldn't be compared to one, but it certainly compares to other similar sized minis, like the Kahr PM9 which I also own and shoot along side of the Solo. Both very accurate!

I guess Kimber and others here have never seen the .380 Llama fro a while back. (Well, O.K., years back) It is a miniature copy of the 1911 and is accurate and dependable. I first saw it about 1950, and bought the next one I saw abvut 1965

I guess Jason has never seen the Solo or a CDP this gun is nothing like the Solo. I had the Solo and sold it in one of my CCW classes. IMOA the Solo wasnt even close to a standard Kimber

If you're going small, why on earth would you go with steel? Small should be light. See the Kel-Tec PF9 as a classic example of the ultimate concealed carry handgun. Don Montalvo

So now Colt, SIG, and Kimber are all making copies of the Mustang. Wonder if the parts are interchangeable.

If this is anything like the Solo, which it looks like the same frame, then its going to be another Kimber joke.

Almost forgot. It would also be a nice companion to my Kimber Crimson Carry (Full size) 1911. :D

Looks exactly like my Llama Micro-Max 380. The aluninum frame makes it 1 oz lighter. :)

Really nice. Even though there is no SAAMI standard for +P 380acp, if you could please have this where it can use this type of ammo like from Buffalo Bore.
